Sales Support Associate (with a path into Sales)
Cape Town, South Africa
At Waybird our mission is to empower independent travel specialists to build their own travel brands.
Waybird is a new age, tech-driven host agency which focuses on planning travel to remote and specialist destinations such as Africa, Latin America and Asia.
Our platform allows travel specialists to quickly and easily showcase trip ideas, build interactive quotes, accept payments and manage the booking process from the start to finish in an efficient and affordable way.
The opportunity:
We’re looking for a Sales Support Associate with 1–3 years of experience who’s excited to join a small, fast-moving team. This role starts in sales support and customer operations, with clear room to grow into a full sales role as you build confidence, product knowledge, and ownership.
Your role will include:
Sales support
Assisting our sales team with day-to-day operational tasks
Preparing quotes, follow-ups, and customer-ready materials
Keeping our CRM tidy and up to date (notes, pipelines, next steps)
Onboarding & customer success
Helping new users get set up and onboarded smoothly
Guiding customers through the platform and best practices
Spotting friction early and proactively solving it
Troubleshooting
Handling incoming customer questions and issues
Investigating bugs or user errors and escalating to the right person
Creating simple internal notes or customer-facing guides when patterns emerge
Marketing support
Helping with marketing materials for travel specialists (newsletters, how-to guides, social media snippets)
Supporting outreach efforts with lists, messaging drafts, and light campaign admin
Business development
Helping us spread the word about Waybird—online and through industry networks
Researching potential partners, communities, and events where our users hang out
Product & strategy
Feeding customer insights back into the product team
Helping us refine processes as we scale
Being part of a core team shaping the Waybird brand and customer experience
Who you might be:
You have 1–3 years of work experience (sales support, customer success, operations, admin, partnerships, or similar)
You’re interested in entrepreneurship and want to grow inside a business that’s building fast
You’re curious about sales and want a role where you can develop into it (not just “support forever”)
You enjoy working with people and have a strong customer-service instinct
You’re comfortable with change, ambiguity, and wearing more than one hat
You think clearly under pressure—calm, practical, and solutions-oriented
You’re organised, proactive, and take pride in following through
Why this role is exciting:
You’ll work directly with the team shaping the company—your work won’t disappear into a big org chart
You’ll learn the fundamentals of sales, onboarding, and product-led growth
You’ll gain deep knowledge of a travel tech platform (and a niche segment with huge global demand)
There’s real room for growth as Waybird scales—this is a “get in early” role
How to apply:
Please send your CV, along with a cover letter detailing your relevant skills and experience and why you’d like to join our team to gustav.rezelman@waybird.com.
