Marketing Manager

Cape Town, South Africa

At Waybird our mission is to empower travel businesses — from independent specialists to established tour operators — to build and grow their own travel brands.

Waybird is a new age, tech-driven travel platform and host agency, built for planning travel to remote and specialist destinations such as Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Our platform allows travel businesses of every size to quickly and easily showcase trip ideas, build interactive quotes, accept payments and manage the booking process from start to finish in an efficient and affordable way.

Your role will include:

  • Owning the social strategy across organic and paid — planning the calendar, writing captions, and either briefing our designer or creating and designing posts yourself.

  • Owning the blog strategy and writing the blogs, with a big focus on GEO and SEO to keep Waybird visible across search and AI-led discovery.

  • Managing our PR agency — generating PR ideas and creating the stories, angles and content we send them.

  • Writing monthly newsletters.

  • Hosting and organising webinars for the Waybird community.

  • Creating white label newsletters for Waybirders as a service.

  • Creating white label social posts and content for Waybirders as a service.

  • Running paid ad campaigns across social and search.

  • Building automated email workflows that follow up after someone enquires or signs up, improving conversion at every step.

  • Building content for Waybird Academy — helping travel specialists and operators learn how to build and scale a business.

  • Helping to shape the Waybird brand and build the platform of choice for specialist travel businesses!

Who you might be:

  • You have hands-on experience across SEO and GEO, paid and organic social, email marketing and marketing automation.

  • You are a doer as much as a strategist — comfortable writing the caption, building the workflow and shipping the campaign yourself.

  • You are confident in front of an audience and happy hosting webinars.

  • You have an amazing attention to detail and a creative eye.

  • You have the capacity to embrace change as we pioneer the new way to build and run travel businesses.

  • You are passionate about working with people.

  • You have the ability to think quickly on your feet, calmly defusing problems as they arise.

What’s in it for you?

  • 21 days annual leave, increasing annually after 3 years employment.

  • A day off on your birthday.

  • Generous maternity and paternity packages.

  • Travel credit on completion of 5 years employment.

  • Access to reduced rates at hotels and lodges across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
